Business History
Jason Wingert started out in the financial services and insurance industry with MetLife in 1997. He knew immediately that he needed to start his own business. Working as a captive agent with MetLife, he had only one product line which required a traditional sales approach. The products he sold were high quality, but overpriced. He felt that to truly help people, he would need to be an independent broker.
In 2001, Jason went out on his own by starting Wingert Financial Services. Working from home and doing what he knew best, he sold life insurance and investments. This time however, he offered many carriers that were all high quality combined with some of the lowest prices in the country.
Searching for an easier product to speak to people about, a friend of Jason's suggested offering health insurance. Little did he know at the time, that this would propel his success. Because most brokers do not charge a fee, as their commissions are embedded into the product, Jason needed to separate himself from everyone else. Remembering his days at Met and his success as in independent life agent, he developed a system that is still used today. His formula was simple, offer more products than anyone else, simplify the process for the client, and provide exceptional service. This worked well in not only the individual and family medical market, but extremely well with business owners in the group benefits marketplace.
2006 and 2007 saw significant growth. An office was opened in Mill Creek and several staff were added to keep up with demand.
In 2008, Shelley Wingert assumed the full-time role of new business development and management of customer service. Her efforts since have been instrumental in increasing new account volume and client retention.
Property and casualty insurance were introduced in 2010, along with a new brand image. Keeping true to their successful business model, Wingert Insurance Agency contracted with many carriers for both personal lines and commercial insurance. This increased the number of carriers they offer to over fifty.
A new retail office location was needed for additional growth. In 2011, Wingert Insurance agency moved into their new location at the Zen Garden Restaurant Complex in Mill Creek. Today, Wingert Insurance Agency continues to look for new high quality, cutting edge products and services so they can continue to be a leader in their industry.
Jason & Shelley's Family
Jason and Shelley Wingert live in Mill Creek with their three children. Their kids have played many sports in Mill Creek and the Seattle area. Combined they have watched ninety to one hundred of their children's baseball and softball games each year.
When not busy with the kids, they enjoy dining out, working out, and entertaining in their home. The couple is very active in their community. They have coached baseball and basketball, helped with PTA events, taught Junior Achievement, coordinated Junior Achievement, ran a Cub Scout day camp, volunteered with the Boy Scouts, and many other activities to help the community. Both Jason and Shelley look for ways to step up and help others.
